• Acupressure

Acupressure is an ancient oriental form of massage where a pressure is asserted to special points on the body, called tsubo points. Working on these points has a beneficial effect, relaxing muscles and regaining balance within the body.

Tsubo points are energy channels that connect directly from the body's surface to energy channels within the body called meridians. Meridians help to keep the body in balance and harmony, so if they become unbalanced working on the tsubo points helps unblock the blockages and re-balance the energy.

Acupressure relieves tension, aids relaxation, improves nervous impulses and increases circulation. Acupressure massage includes, back, shoulders, neck, head and face. Essential oils can be used.

Seated/clothed acupressure includes, back, shoulders and neck, without oils.

  • Reflexology

Reflexology is thought to have originated over 5000 years ago, and was practised by the Chinese as a preventative medicine. Reflexology is rooted in the theory that energy pathways or meridians run through the body between the feet and brain, and the blockages may lead to ill health and disease.

Reflexology is a compression massage of the feet. There are reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all body parts, as the body is mapped within the feet, which means the whole body can be treated through the feet. The aim of Reflexology is to balance the body's energy to create complete balance (Homeostasis) by unblocking stagnant energy.

Reflexology lowers stress, creating relaxation and a feeling of well-being. It improves circulation, boosts the immune system, improves breathing and can increase energy levels.

Many people have found Reflexology to be very effective in helping to ease symptoms of long term physical problems, when treatments are had regularly.

  • Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is specifically aimed at people who suffer from muscular tension, impaired mobility, back problems and sports injuries. Remedial massage uses specialist techniques to relieve tension and increase mobility in the body's soft tissues (muscles/ligaments/tendons) whether this is due to sports injuries or muscular tension caused by everyday life.

It is a deep therapeutic massage which is able to stretch specific areas of tissue in ways that may not be possible with normal exercise.

Remedial massage can also stimulate nerve receptors in the tissues which control tissue tension.

This can have a reflex effect that can lead to further relaxation.
